Enroll in Classes

Enrollment is the process of enrolling in classes each quarter. Students enroll for classes using the ctcLink Student Homepage. 

  • Log in to your ctcLink account. Your Student ID Number/ctcLink ID can be found by visiting My E-Services.
  • Select Student Homepage
  • Select Manage Classes
  • Select Class Search and Enroll
  • Select the correct Term and College (Example: WINTER 2020, Tacoma Community College)
  • Enter class you want to search for in the search box
  • View classes and select your option
  • Select Next 
  • Select Accept- A permission number is optional in Step 2. Instructors can assign numbers for a  prerequisite override, class overload or for classes that require instructor permission.  
  • Select Next for Step 3, the enroll field should be selected. If the enroll field is not displaying then registration for the term is not available. You can check the Enrollment Dates tab for enrollment appointments.  
  • Submit 
  • Select Yes in pop-up box

Reference the Academic Calendar where deadlines are listed for the last day to add credit classes without instructor permission and the last day to add credit classes with instructor permission.

Need a Permission Number?

Permission numbers are placed by instructors. Reach out to your instructor for placement. 

Enrollment Appointments

Students may make changes to their enrollment following their assigned priority date. Appointments are assigned based on the number of credits earned. For questions regarding your enrollment appointment contact registrar@tacomacc.edu

Prerequisites

An advisor can verify and assist with prerequisites. Advisors can be reached at advising@tacomacc.edu. An instructor can approve a prerequisite override by using the Add or Drop Form (PDF). Instructor signature or approval email required.

Closed Classes

An instructor can approve a closed class override by using the Add or Drop Form (PDF). Instructor signature or approval email required.

Waitlist 

The waitlist process allows students to become enrolled for classes through their ctcLink account As spots become available in a full class, students on the waitlist will automatically be enrolled in the class, in the order they appear on the waitlist.

Instructions on how add yourself to a class waitlist:

  • Log in to you ctcLink account
  • Select Student Homepage
  • Select Manage Classes
  • Select Class Search and Enroll
  • Select the correct Term and College (Example: WINTER 2020, Tacoma Community College)
  • Enter the class name in the search bar (Example: ENGL 101)
  • Select the correct box to view all open classes
  • View classes and select your option
  • Select Next 
  • Under the Add to waitlist if class is full question change the radio button from No to Yes and select Accept
  • Select Enroll and Next
  • Select Submit 
  • Select Yes in the popup box
The waitlist runs through the end of the second day of the quarter. That date is found each term in the academic calendar. 

State Employee Tuition Waivers

As space is available, state employees can take up to two classes or 10 credits allowed per quarter. State Employees will be enrolled in classes starting the third day of the quarter. Permission from the instructor is required. Complete the State Employee Space Available Tuition Waiver and submit with to Enrollment Services, Building 7.

Senior Citizen Tuition Reduction

Enrollment for Senior Citizen Tuition Reduction opens on the 3rd instructional day of the quarter at 12:00 PM (Noon), on a space available basis. Space availability is determined by the number of open seats
below the capacity of the class. Enrolling for classes earlier than the 3rd instructional day can result in disqualification of the reduction.
