Are You on Track? Check in and Explore Programs 

No classes are held before 3 p.m. on Educational Planning Day, held once per quarter. This is your chance to: 

  • Check in with your advisor to make sure your program completion, graduation, transfer and career goals are on track. ** PLEASE NOTE: Some departments, such as Running Start, will not be able to individually advise every student on Educational Planning Day. Feel free to make an appointment for a date before or after Educational Planning Day.** 
  • Patricipate in group advising activities. 
  • Explore programs that interest you.

Information Systems Power Up Event

P.C. problems? Bring your computer or device to the Information Systems Power Up event! Free and open to all TCC students and employees. Intake ends at 1 p.m. Please do not bring college-owned computers or devices.

Anthropology Chat

Time: 10:30 - 11:30 a.m.

Meet with Dr. Elizabeth Fortenbury and Dr. Kirsten Jenkins to learn about the field of anthropology, the courses we offer, the Anthropology Specialization, transfer to 4-year Anthropology majors, and real-world applications! This is also a great opportunity to explore the new Anthropology Lab.

Student Conversations about the Humanities at TCC and Beyond!

Come join our humanities conversation from 12:30-1:30pm in Building 10, Room 110! Feel free to drop in anytime. We want to learn about the skills you have gained through humanities courses here at TCC, what you hope to learn and see from humanities courses in the future and where you see professional connections in these disciplines moving forward. This informal conversation will offer valuable insight to our college. It is exciting work, and we will have refreshments! You can also find out about future PAID opportunities to serve as a panelist to earn a $100 stipend!

 

Questions for Discussion 

  1. How have humanities courses you've taken (e.g., language, communication studies, art, music, BEdA, writing studies) connected to both your career goals and your life in more general terms (your personal identity, values, or community)?
  1. What kinds of skills—academic, creative, cultural, or interpersonal—did you gain in these classes? Which of these feel most valuable to your future, whether professionally or personally?
  1. Have your humanities courses reflected the histories, voices, and experiences of people like you and your community? Where have you seen yourself represented—or not represented—in the content?
  1. What professions can this coursework best represent or support? How?
  1. After reviewing course descriptions, what are your thoughts? What is missing? What would you like to see?

Information for Mechanical, Civil, Environmental, Aero/Astro, Industrial, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Bioengineering, Chemical, Manufacturing and Materials Science Engineering students. Up-to-date information about TCC offerings and university engineering program requirements.   

Guest Speaker

Each quarter, we have an engineer from a different discipline tell you more about their career path and recommendations. Questions are encouraged. This quarter we have Matt Torrey, P.E. from the City of Tacoma.

Matt Torrey, P.E., is a Mechanical Engineer with Tacoma Environmental Services, where he leads mechanical design for treatment plant upgrades and serves as the subject matter expert on pump systems and renewable natural gas. He started with the Utility in 2018 as an intern while attending Saint Martin’s University and now plays a key role in supporting sustainable plant operations. Matt and his wife recently welcomed their first child.

11:15 a.m.: Guest Speaker Dr. Paly began his career with training in neurosurgery before discovering a passion for neuroanesthesia and pain management, which he practiced until his retirement in 2024. He will talk about professionalism in healthcare, conflict resolution, being part of a patient care team, and more!  Room 124.

Paralegal & Resume Workshop 

Time: 10 am. - 1 p.m. 

Location: Building 16, Room 210 

A session for students in the TCC Paralegal Program. Please come prepared with a basic resume and cover letter — or at minimum, your resume. If you need assistance creating a resume before the workshop, we strongly encourage you to make an appointment with the Career Center before May 1. This is important to ensure our visiting legal professionals have materials to review and provide feedback on.
