No classes are held before 3 p.m. on Educational Planning Day, held once per quarter. This is your chance to: 

  • Check in with your advisor to make sure your program completion, graduation, transfer and career goals are on track. ** PLEASE NOTE: Some departments, such as Running Start, will not be able to individually advise every student on Educational Planning Day. Feel free to make an appointment for a date before or after Educational Planning Day.** 
  • Patricipate in group advising activities. 
  • Explore programs that interest you.

These information sessions, group advising sessions, and other activities offer more in-depth information about program completion, transfer pathways, and career options for students currently in programs. Students who want to learn more about a particular program are also welcome to attend.

Engineering Educational Planning Day Event  

Time: 9:00 a.m. - noon. 

Location: Building 16, Room 106, with breakout sessions in Rooms 108, 109, and 110

  • Information for Mechanical, Civil, Environmental, Aero/Astro, Industrial, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Bioengineering, Chemical, Manufacturing and Materials Science Engineering students.  Up-to-date information about TCC offerings and university engineering program requirements.  
  • Guest Speaker - Each quarter, we'll have an engineer from a different discipline tell you more about their career path and recommendations. Questions are encouraged! This quarter we have Catrina Walter from WSP in Tacoma, WA. 

Catrina Walter is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Washington with over 15 years of experience in the design of waterfront and offshore facilities, including piers, wharves, container terminals, and floating concrete structures. Her clients have ranged from public ports and municipal ferry systems as well as the U.S. Navy and USCG. She is an active member of the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI) and currently serves as Chair of the Prestressed Concrete Piling committee; as Chair, she is leading the efforts for the publication of the first ever PCI design standard on the design of precast prestressed piles.

Catrina holds a Masters in ‘structural engineering & mechanics’ from North Carolina State University as well as an Associates of Science degree from Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte NC.

  • Individual advising opportunities for those who have previously attended a breakout session.

Environmental Science Information Session 

Time: 11:30 - 12:30 

Location: Building 15, Room 204

Interested in the environment or sustainability? In this session, TCC faculty will give an overview of TCC’s AS degree in Environmental Science, our new AA in Environmental Sustainability, and our Sustainability Distinction Pathway. We will also share how you can connect with TCC’s student garden club and our sustainability action committee.  We will also have a guest speaker. Grace Roberts is an environmental scientist and diver who works for the global consulting firm WSP USA. After this there will be time for any questions. We hope to see you there!

 

Healthcare Career Planning

Paralegal Program Changes 

Time: 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. 

Location: Building 7 Advising Center 

All current Paralegal students are highly encouraged to attend. Learn about changes coming to the Paralegal program in Fall 2024, including: 

  • Reduces the total number of credits and required courses needed to earn an AAS in Paralegal Studies. 
  • Reduces the total number of credits and required courses needed to earn the Pro-Certificate in Paralegal Studies. 

Determine the remaining courses you need to complete your program, and map out a plan with an advisor.
