Collaborative Identity Exhibition Reception April 10 at TCC Gig Harbor

Join us at TCC Gig Harbor Thursday, April 10, to meet artist Hannah Kyungsook Ra and Emily J. Won, whose “Collaborative Identity” exhibition will be on display at TCC Gig Harbor spring quarter, 2025.
According to Ra and Won, who are Korean artists living the U.S., the collaboration reflects their individual identities as well as their collective cultural experience. Each artist contributes her own style and medium to each piece. Ra creates intensely colorful acrylic paintings, over which Won superimposes copper wire sculptures that give the effect of line drawings. By combining their disparate media and styles, the two artists create each piece’s “collaborative identity.”
“Through this exhibition, we challenge the notion that identity is singular or static. Instead, we embrace the fluidity of cultural and artistic fusion, proving that distinct perspectives can coexist and create something entirely new,” reads the exhibition’s artists’ statement. “Collaborative identity is a testament to the power of artistic unity, where differences become strengths and shared creativity becomes the foundation for new meaning.”
