About
Hello, my name is Dr. Davi Kallman (she/her). I earned my bachelor’s degree in Organizational Communication from the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), my master’s degree in Communication Theory from UTEP, and my PhD in Health Communication from Washington State University. I am a published author and an award-winning communication researcher, with work that explores the intersections of communication, identity, and health.I currently serve as the District Dean of Student Engagement Services at Pierce College, where I oversee programs that support student success, accessibility, and leadership. Alongside this role, I teach Communication Studies as adjunct faculty, drawing on more than a decade of experience teaching courses such as public speaking, small group communication, interpersonal communication, and my signature course Youth and Media. My teaching emphasizes experiential learning, real-world application, and helping students find their voice.
Beyond the classroom, I am active in professional networks and often present at conferences
on topics such as disability studies, accessibility in higher education, storytelling,
and inclusive leadership.
Outside of work, I enjoy scuba diving with my husband Kyle, spending time with our
dog Penny and Josie and our four cats, Mozzy, LeeLoo, PomPom, and Ash. I am excited
to support your growth as communicators this quarter.
