Derek Haneline

About

A little bit about me: I grew up in Puyallup, Wa. I began my higher education at Tacoma Community College where I earned an Associate degree in accounting. I then transferred to the University of Washington Tacoma where I earned both a Bachelor's degree and a Master's degree in Accounting from the Milgard School of Business. Before becoming a professor here at TCC, I owned my own construction company, worked for a public accounting firm, and performed contract work for Davita Health Care in the accounts payable department. Most recently, I have been a professor in the Milgard School of Business at the University of Washington Tacoma for the past 12 years. I have also been the Site Coordinator for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program at UWT for the past 3 years. I'm passionate about teaching because I enjoy preparing students for a career in the field that I love so much. When I'm not teaching, I enjoy spending time in the outdoors, hiking, and playing golf. I also still complete building projects.
