Transcript Review

Why an unofficial transcript review?

A transcript review is an evaluation of a student’s unofficial academic records not for credit but for enrollment prerequisites.

  1. Transfer Students:
    • All new students to TCC will need to take the Math Directed Self-Placement Survey before registering for classes as you will not have access to some math, science, and business classes unless the survey is completed.
    • Students with credits from other accredited colleges need to include all transcripts from each college attended. TCC cannot process transferred credits without a transcript.
    • Only grades of “C” or higher are eligible for consideration.
  2. Returning TCC Students:
    • If students attended TCC before, student's unofficial transcripts are already on record and TCC will use these for enrollment. If you have attended elsewhere since your previous time at TCC, please email new transcripts.
    • Please email placement@tacomacc.edu and include last year/quarter of attendance and TCC Student ID number.

How to Have Your Unofficial Transcripts Reviewed:

Unofficial transcripts can be used for placement. Follow these steps to have your unofficial transcript reviewed:

Have your TCC welcome letter and TCC Student ID number before taking the next steps.

1. Your Transcript:

  • Include your:
    • First and Last Name
    • The name of the issuing college.
    • Your TCC Student ID number
    • Program/Degree or class interested in

2. Submit Your Transcript:

  • Email: Send as an attachment to placement@tacomacc.edu. Do not send links to documents. Or bring into the Welcome Center in Building 8 on the main Tacoma campus.
  • Placement Staff will complete an evaluation for placement in five (5) business days.

This process allows enrollment in specific classes but does not grant credit. To earn credit for transfer courses, official transcripts are processed by Credential Evaluator. Evaluations occur after registering for at least one quarter and may take 8-12 weeks (longer during peak periods).
