Health Information Technology (HIT) Admissions Process

  1. Complete the HIT virtual information session.
    The 2020-21 Virtual Information Session provides background on the HIT profession, TCC’s HIT program and steps for getting started.
  2. Apply to the college and complete the following prerequisite courses with a grade C or higher.

    • BIOL&175 - Human Biology w/ lab

    • ENGL&101 - English Composition I

    • HIT 105 - Comprehensive Medical Terminology

    • MATH&146 OR MATH 93/136 - Statistics

  3. Contact the Program Chair to request enrollment codes for fall quarter HIT courses as soon as all prerequisite courses have been successfully completed.

    • Enrollment codes are granted on a first-come, first-serve basis to students who have completed the virtual information session and all adult basic education and HIT prerequisite courses.

    • Students should contact the program chair at least 1 quarter before beginning the HIT program.

  4. Register for HIT fall quarter classes using the enrollment codes provided by the Program Chair.
    NOTE: HIT courses fill on a first-come, first-serve basis. Class enrollment begins in mid-May during Spring quarter.
