ARTS & CREATIVITY

Description

Young artists will learn beginner-friendly acrylic painting techniques to create cinematic visual stories inspired by Studio Ghibli films. They will develop backgrounds, characters, and narratives while building skills and fostering creativity through brainstorming exercises. Unleash your imagination and bring your stories to life on canvas! Week 1 Backgrounds and Color Palettes: create backgrounds with consistent color palettes by studying examples from movies and visual storytelling artists, practice with paints to replicate or develop color palettes from photos or movie backgrounds, sketch outlines to apply the chosen palettes, and fill in the sketches to complete the project.  Week 2 Characters and portraits: craft character sheets with personality traits and stories, and paint humans and magical creatures to enhance previously envisioned background worlds. Week 3 Narratives and Landscapes: combine the story elements of a detailed landscape background with the characters previously created. Focus on conveying a strong story or message through the portrayal of characters and their interactions with the environment.  Week 4 Combine All Parts: build upon previous creations, integrating all the elements introduced in weeks 1-3.
