Academic Honors

TCC students who have achieved outstanding grades are honored upon graduation. Awards for students who graduate with academic honors are designated by seals on their diplomas and noted on official transcripts. Students are eligible for the following honors or awards:

Graduation with Honors 3.5 to 3.69 GPA
Graduation with High Honors 3.7 to 4.0 GPA

Graduation with Honors – Students with graduation grade point averages of 3.5 to 3.69 for credits earned at TCC as well as for credits earned at other institutions and used to meet TCC degree requirements, and who have met award criteria described below graduate with “Honors.”

 Graduation with High Honors – Students with graduation grade point averages of 3.7 or higher for credits earned at TCC as well as for credits earned at other institutions and used to meet TCC degree requirements, and who have met the award criteria described below graduate with “High Honors.”

The minimum must meet or exceed the GPA listed above. Honors at commencement is based on your degree GPA at the end of Winter quarter. Students with honors are noted within the commencement program. To ensure names and honor status is correct on the commencement program a student must meet the priority graduation application deadline listed on the important dates calendar.

Honors on your transcript and diploma are based on all Tacoma Community College coursework being applied to the degree or certificate, including Spring quarter grades and any future quarter grades if you are commencing with deficiencies.

Honors Policy

 

Dean's List

Dean's List is awarded on a quarterly basis to students who earn a quarterly grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 or higher. A notation of this achievement will be placed on the student’s official transcript.
