Accreditation

The Radiologic Sciences program is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT). A copy of the JRCERT standards is posted in the x-ray simulation lab. All alleged areas of non-compliance can be addressed in writing to:

Licensing

In accordance with U.S. Department of Education Regulation 34 CFR 668.43 (a) (5) (v), educational institutions must provide information related to whether their programs will fulfill educational requirements for specific professional licensure or certification and to inform prospective students whether their degree upon graduation will qualify them to work in the state where they are located.

Upon successful completion of the curriculum courses, graduates may be eligible to take the national certification examination administered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). The ARRT has additional criteria that must be met prior to examination. Successful completion of the registry examination results in national certification as a Registered Radiologic Technologist, RT (R) ARRT.

Additionally, graduates of the Radiologic Science program are eligible for the Radiologic Technologist license through the Washington Department of Health. Most of the prerequisites for the program are listed with the & symbol. If you're taking classes at a Washington State community or technical college, look for the corresponding course at the other college with the & symbol. (e.g., BIOL& 241.) This tells you we have already aligned the learning outcomes of the course to ensure a smooth transfer of credits to TCC. Still not sure? Please talk to an advisor at the college you're currently attending.
Yes, you can still apply for the program, but certain conviction history exclude persons from health care employment. If you have any prior convictions, even if you believe they may be sealed, please consult with the program chair for radiography or the division dean. It is suggested that you contact the ARRT.org to learn if you will be granted access to sit for the national board exam.
Upon completion of the TCC Radiologic Science program and successful writing of the national examination, graduates may apply for transfer to the baccalaureate programs listed below. This is not a comprehensive list of baccalaureate Radiologic Science Programs.

Students intending to transfer should check in early with their potential transfer institution regarding:
- Any requirements for overall minimum college-level GPA, a higher GPA requirement for a subset of courses or a specific minimum grade in one or more courses.
- Specific courses which should be taken when options are listed.
- Additional “university-specific” requirements for admission that are not prerequisites identified in the AAS degree. Courses may be individualized based on baccalaureate college.
- Application deadlines for transfer admission. These vary from institution to institution.
It is important to note that the degree prepares students for upper division coursework, but does not guarantee students admission to the major.

The Associate in Applied Sciences degree is not typically a transferable degree to a four-year institution. Graduates may consider completing requirements for the Associate of Arts and Sciences degree for that purpose.

Students wishing to transfer to a four-year institution after graduation from the RS program are encouraged to take distribution courses for the general Associate of Arts and Sciences Degree prior to beginning the program. It is strongly encouraged that prospective students discuss options for continuing their education with their Faculty Mentor or Student Success Advisor.
