It is the policy of Tacoma Community College that non-represented classified employees and hourly individuals subject to WAC 296-126-092 will be allowed a 15 minute rest period for each four (4) hours of work to be taken in accordance with WAC 296-126-092.  Rest periods will be scheduled as near as possible to the midpoint of the work period.  Where the nature of the work allows employees to take intermittent rest periods equivalent to 15 minutes for each four hours worked, scheduled rest periods are not required.

Rest periods may not be combined together with meal periods or used to arrive late or leave early or otherwise vary the scheduled work shift.

The purpose of this policy is to establish rest periods for non-represented classified staff and hourly individuals covered by civil service rules.
