Education is the vehicle for American prosperity at the personal, family, and societal level. Community colleges are located strategically in the middle of the educational pipeline, partnering happily with Pre-K, K-12 schools, universities, and employers. The more educated our citizens are, the more likely they are to be employed, earn a good living, support a family, and contribute to our communities.

Today’s workers need college-level learning to develop the skills and knowledge required to succeed in our global economy. Tacoma Community College is a great place to start, whether building a foundation for a bachelor’s degree, exploring a new career, learning a new trade or upgrading skills.

But for many individuals, achieving a higher education becomes more challenging every day. The opportunity to pursue a college degree is limited by financial pressures that are made greater by rising tuition costs and decreasing state and federal support. Even community college may be out of reach for many students unless they take on an overwhelming debt burden. The Tacoma Community College Foundation helps students achieve success in education by offering financial assistance through scholarships, by supporting instructional excellence and innovation and by providing other targeted assistance as needed.

Some area residents face financial hardship that cannot be addressed by financial aid and employment alone. Scholarships help ensure that every deserving student can receive a Tacoma Community College education. Scholarships also help us retain the best and brightest local students in our local communities, and help motivate students to prepare for careers in fields critical to our region’s future.
