TCC EAP Alternative Math Placement Agreement

This is the Math Placement Agreement that has been made for EAP students who are lacking the English prerequisite that is necessary for the math class they have tested into.

In order to receive an entry code to take a pre-college level math class (Math 95 or below) the student must:

  • Be currently enrolled in an EAP or English course (EAP 97 or above) in the pipeline shown in the diagram below.
  • Have the appropriate Math assessment test score for the class they wish to take.
  • Enroll in the next EAP or English class in the pipeline.

In order to receive an entry code to take a college level math class (Math 107 and above) the student must:

  • Be currently enrolled in an EAP or English course (EAP 98 or above) in the pipeline shown in the diagram below.
  • Have the appropriate Math assessment test score for the class they wish to take.
  • Enroll in the next EAP or English class in the pipeline.
  • Note: Math 146, 147, and 148 are reading and writing intensive classes.

EAP Pipeline

Students are considered “in” the pipeline if they enter the pipeline via any of the EAP courses below (not via English 85 or 95) and continue to take classes in the pipeline each quarter until it is finished. If they do not take courses in the pipeline each quarter then they are considered to have “dropped” the pipeline and need to reenter via the next appropriate class to get an entry code.
