OSE Position: Multicultural and Education

What are you going to school for?  I am working on my Associates of Art focusing on Sociology I want to do so much with this degree. No matter what I do it's going to be something in the human rights area.

What do you want to achieve as an Office of Student Engagement member this year?  I want to be a voice for students' needs and also educate students and staff on things that are very importent to me with the help of my team. I want to focus on problems that are going on around us and find a way to fix and work on it. The importent things to me are equality when it comes to people of color and the LGBTQIA+ community.

What made you decide to become a TCC student?  I learned that TCC have a distinction pathway program and I was interested in the AEGS (American Ethnic and Gender Studies) program. Learning about that helped me to decide a major in Sociology. The other thing is that it's closer to where I live.

What advice do you have for new students starting at TCC this year?  I would say that don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it!

What is one thing you want TCC students to know about you that you feel will help them understand you better?  I am a good listener and an open minded person. Even though I have a specific goal as a student leader that doesn't mean I am dissing other things that might be important to other students. I want students to know I am here to represent them!

If you could be any character from a childhood fairytale, book, movie, or TV show; who would you be and why?  I would definitely be Katara from Avatar the last air bender. I want to be her because we are so much alike if she was real! She has a power to control water and heal. I would love to have that kind of power. My middle name is Katara. That is how much I love that character! If you haven't seen this show, I highly recommend you watch it!

You’re at a make-your-own sundae bar. Which toppings do you choose?  Raspberry, strawberry, or blueberry.

If you could have any super power what would it be and why?  I would like to be like "The Flash" Barry Allen. I want that power so I can travel the world, and get to places without being late because of traffic or the bus being late!
