It is not only what we do, but also what we do not do for which we are accountable
My first post college work experience was in the mental health field where I worked as a Child and Family Therapist. My passion has been working with youth particularly high school age students and I found Running Start to be a great fit for my interests and strengths. I am a first generation college student but grew up in a home where education was valued and encouraged. Neither of my parents completed a college degree but all three of their children did. In addition to working at TCC, I am a avid CrossFit athlete and I coach at a local CrossFit gym. When I am not at work or at the gym I am busy spending time with my family and pets.
What do you enjoy most about academic advising?
I am very motivated to help students figure out what academic path they should pursue and then navigate the steps to accomplish their goals.
Favorite Place in Tacoma. Why?
The trails around Point Defiance park are my favorite local escape.
What makes TCC Special? (Why TCC?)
TCC offers students an opportunity to start wherever they are and move forward from their toward their goals.
One thing about TCC you should know?
There are so many resources available to help students succeed.
Most memorable course or experience in college. What made it memorable for you?
I was a pre-med major for two years of college and then I took a Family Therapy course and something just clicked and I knew I needed to change my major and pursue counseling.
