Physical Therapy

Associate of Arts (DTA)

Physical Therapists (PTs) work with patients to help improve or restore mobility and develop healthy, active behaviors. PTs work in many settings, including hospitals, private practices, outpatient clinics, home health agencies, schools, sports and fitness facilities, work settings and nursing homes.

Physical Therapy programs are graduate level programs, requiring a bachelor's degree in order to apply. State licensure is required in each state in which a physical therapist practices.

Begin with an Associate of Arts degree with direct transfer into a Bachelor degree program. The Associate of Arts (DTA) degree consists of 90 quarter credits earned in General Requirements, Distribution Requirements and Electives. The public community colleges and the four-year colleges and universities of the State of Washington have an established Direct Transfer Agreement. That agreement allows students who hold the Associate of Arts (DTA) degree to transfer at least 90 quarter credits (60 semester credits) to four-year institutions for the purpose of satisfying most or all of the general education requirements of the receiving institution.

Degree Program

Based on the individual transfer requirements for each of the 4-year Washington State institutions with Physical Therapy programs, here are the recommended TCC class schedules. Talk to the faculty advisor for more information.
