Nursing Lottery

How TCC's Nursing Program Admission Lottery works.

The TCC nursing program holds admission lotteries for all applicants, using a weighted lottery to select qualified students to fill its nursing cohorts. TCC is committed to a fair and open lottery. To avoid any misinterpretation of results, the program has instituted a witnessed verification process.

The Nursing Lottery Weighted Points System

After submitting an application, all documents will be evaluated. Each applicant will be awarded a score that is comprised of the following areas:

 Lottery Selection Process

All students who successfully apply to the nursing program will be awarded a base score. The higher the student's score, the greater the probability their name will be chosen. Scoring, weighting, and selection are done by a sophisticated mathematical software program that randomly selects students for open program slots.

  1. Once all applications are evaluated, individual weighted scores for qualified applicants will be posted on the website for review, listed by the last six digits of the student's ID number.
  2. If your application qualifies, your ID number will be entered into the lottery, including the appropriate weight earned by your application.
  3. The lottery drawing occurs.
  4. Selected applicants will be notified one to two days after the drawing and offered a slot in a nursing cohort via TCC student email.
  5. If a student is accepted and then declines the offer to enroll in TCC's nursing program, the next randomly generated number from the lottery will be accepted. This can be a lengthy process, so please be patient.

Class Placement

Acceptance cannot be deferred to an alternate quarter.

If Selected

If selected, you will receive an offer letter via the TCC e-mail, which will provide a date by which you need to confirm acceptance of offer. If your response for acceptance is not received by the deadline the offer will be rescinded and provided to the next student on the list.

If Not Selected

If you are not selected, and wish to be considered for future drawings, you must reapply. You do not need to resubmit transcripts.
