For I-Best students only, TCC's new Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Program certificate is designed to prepare students for a career as a Certified Nursing Assistant. This 2-quarter program provides an introduction to Health Careers (first quarter) and a CNA certification course (second quarter).
The I-BEST Pathway
The CNA certificate is part of TCC's Integrated Basic Education and Skills Training (I-BEST) Program, which allows students to work towards college and career readiness at the same time. I-BEST students gain basic math, reading, writing and comprehension skills while working toward a number of employable certificates, including the CNA certificate.
A Nursing Prerequisite
Starting Fall 2018, a CNA certificate is a prerequisite for all students applying to TCC's Nursing program. Working as a Nursing Assistant is also a great way to find out if nursing would be a good career fit before starting a nursing program. Find out more about what it's like to be a nursing assistant.
For those who wish to achieve TCC's CNA Certificate, this pathway is open to I-BEST students only at this time. Students not in the I-BEST program who are completing their nursing prerequisites can find a nearby training option.
