Who is Eligible for Admission to TCC?

• You!
• High School graduates
• GED earned
• At least 18 years old
• Applicants under 18 years of age who have not graduated from high school may be able to enter TCC through either the Running Start or Fresh Start programs.

Other applicants 16-18 must obtain a written release from the principal of the high school they last attended; admission of under-age students will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

*We are not able to accept students who reside in the State of Maryland.

Step 1: Apply/Reapply

Complete the Admissions Application if you haven't already done so.

  • Online. Fill out the application
  • In-person. Visit the Enrollment Services counter, Bldg. 7. Click here to print our paper application.
  • By mail. Call 253.566.5001 to request an application.
    Send to Tacoma Community College, Enrollment Services,
    6501 S. 19th St., Tacoma, WA 98466.

Readmitting Students

  • If you've been gone for one year or less, call 253.566.5325 to update your application.
  • If you have been gone for over a year, fill out a new application.

Transfer Students (from another college)

Special Admissions Students

You are a Special Admissions Student if you are:

  • online only
  • continuing education
  • staff and state employees
  • senior citizens
  • SPRUCE students

TIP: Apply at least 8 weeks prior to the start of the quarter. This improves your chances of getting into the classes you want and improves your opportunities for financial aid.

Step 2: get connected Step 2: Get Connected

After you've applied and have been accepted, check your personal email for a welcome message from TCC! In that welcome email, you'll receive an assigned TCC Student ID Number and directions to activate it.

Start to check your new TCC email regularly -- it's how the college will officially communicate with you! Access your new TCC email through your myTCC portal.

You must set up your myTCC portal in order to complete the financial aid process!

Special Admissions Instructions

Online-Only Students
Visit the eLearning website for information regarding your course and classroom.

Personal Enrichment, Continuing Education or Life-Long Education Students

You are not required to complete an admissions application for non-credit courses. To register for a non-credit class, you have several options:

  • Go directly to the Continuing Education schedule to search for classes and complete a registration form that can be submitted through CE's reservation process.
  • Go directly to CE forms and complete a registration form, print it, and mail with payment.
  • Complete the registration form in the back of the quarterly class schedule and mail it along with your payment to: Continuing Education, Tacoma Community College, 6501 South 19th St., Tacoma, WA 98466
    or drop off your registration and payment to the CE Office in Bldg. 6.
    Office hours are 8 a.m.-6 p.m., Monday-Thursday, and 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on Friday (campus is closed on Fridays during the summer).
  • Register by telephone if you are using a major credit card. Call 253.566.5020.

Staff, state employees, senior citizens (60 years or older) or
SPRUCE students enrolling with a WAIVER

You may not register until the date identified under the conditions of the applicable waiver. If a student registers prior to the allowed date, the waiver will not apply and the student will pay full tuition.
