Scholarships are financial awards based on academic achievement, athletic or artistic talent, financial need, particular fields of study or involvement in the community. They do not have to be paid back.

IMPORTANT: THE SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS WILL BE ANNOUNCED IN MAY!

Types of Scholarships

TCC offers 2 kinds of scholarships: external and internal. The application process is different for each.

  • Internal scholarships: Thanks to the generosity of donors and supporters of TCC, we are able to offer dozens of TCC Foundation Scholarships in specific disciplines, as well as generalized scholarships for any area of study. Learn more about internal TCC Foundation Scholarships.
  • External scholarships: These scholarships are contributions made by groups outside of TCC. Each scholarship has its own application and selection process.

Applying for External Scholarships

The scholarship application process is separate from the application for federal and state financial aid.

Each scholarship may have its own application and selection process, unique to the funding organization. The processes for each scholarship will be outlined on the scholarship application, which you can pick up in the Financial Aid office in Bldg. 14.

Helpful tips for applying for external scholarships:

  • Include a self-addressed, stamped envelope when requesting applications or information.
  • Read the application carefully. Pay close attention to instructions and items that are required in order to process your application.
  • If any part of the application seems confusing feel free to seek advice from the scholarship provider, an instructor, the Financial Aid Office, or an academic counselor. Ask for letters of recommendation from instructors, community leaders or people who you have worked with. Discuss in advance with the writers the kind of information you will need. Include these letters along with your application.
  • Type all application forms, letters, essays, questionnaires, or any other information. Proofread all materials and make sure they are picture-perfect: no misspellings, no errors. It is always a good idea to have someone else look over the application and attached statements one more time.
  • Be sure to make a copy for your records.

A scholarship information bulletin board with current outside scholarship listings is located next to the Financial Aid office in Bldg. 14. Stop by and take a look at what is available.
