Supplemental Instruction

“SI helped me do more than simply get a good grade; it helped me to gain mastery of the material.” -- former Supplemental Instruction student.

Improve your understanding of the course material

Supplemental Instruction (SI) is a series of weekly review sessions for students taking historically difficult courses. Students who want to improve their understanding of course material and improve their grades are invited to participate.

  • Participation is voluntary, free, and open to all students enrolled in the class.
  • SI can help students develop essential academic and learning skills.
  • SI sessions begin during the first or second week of the quarter, before students typically encounter academic difficulties.
  • SI Leaders direct collaborative learning exercises that encourage students to take responsibility for processing course content.
  • SI students worldwide earn higher final course grades and withdraw less often than non-SI participants.

SI is available in specific class sections of certain courses at TCC. For a full listing of the courses with SI available, see the class schedule.
