Wednesday, August 06, 2014 – Charlie McManus and Jacqueline Plattner have been friends of the TCC art program since 1999. That’s when they asked students to help decorate their new restaurant, Primo Grill.

Since then, their annual auction has raised more than $100,000 for art scholarships. And when they needed art for Primo’s new digs (6th and Oakes), they asked the art department for help.

Painted over several months by TCC art instructor Marit Berg and her students, the six-panel mural celebrates the relationships that build local community. The vibrant panorama of Mount Rainier, the Puyallup Valley, and Tacoma displays Primo’s farm-to-table approach to dining.

It also shows the benefits of investing in your neighbors, from farmers to art students. Many students have chosen to give back. They’ve created much of the art auctioned at Primo over the years.

This year’s Primo Grill Art Scholarship Fundraiser will be held Oct. 15.
