Borrowing Materials

To borrow library resources, students must obtain a College ID card. The library does not issue a separate card. Your TCC student (or faculty/staff) identification number ( 970...) is also your library card number.  If you are NOT a student, administrator, faculty or staff member, you may apply for a Community Borrower card. The fee is $50 per year and covers all members of a household.

Bring the items that you wish to borrow to the circulation desk.

  • Books in the library's main collection may be borrowed for three weeks
  • Print magazines and newspapers may be borrowed  for one week
  • Most reference books are for use in the library only. Some may be borrowed for three days--ask a reference librarian
  • Most videotapes and DVD's must be viewed in the media services area. Some may be borrowed overnight.
  • Most reserve materials may be borrowed for periods of two hours. The library's reserve collection includes books, periodical articles, answer sheets and other material designated by instructors for use by students in a particular course. All material on reserve is listed by course number and instructor in the library catalog
  • Electronic reserves may be accessed through your BlackBoard classroom or your instructor's web site

The library subscribes to a number of electronic databases. These are listed on the Research Databases page and are available on-campus or off-campus to registered students, faculty and staff through the "Athens" authentication system. Once logged in, you will have seamless access to all such resources. If you don't know what your Athens username and password is, login into the TCC Portal and click on the "Learning Resources" tab for instructions.

Borrowers are responsible for overdue or lost material. If library items are not returned to the library by the end of the quarter, a block will be placed on the student's record, preventing registration or access to transcripts.
