GETTING A SPEEDING TICKET

The speed limit is 30 miles an hour.

She is driving 40 miles an hour.

The speed limit is 20 miles an hour.

The policeman checks her speed on radar.

The policeman turns on his flashing lights.

She pulls over.

Officer: Good afternoon.  Could I see your driver's license, registration and proof of insurance please?

Officer: Great. Is the information correct on your driver's license?

Julia: Yes.

Officer: You're being stopped today for speeding. Were you aware of the posted speed limit?

Julia: No, I wasn't.

Officer: Ok. It's 30 miles an hour. You were clocked on radar doing 45.

Officer: Give me a couple minutes and I'll be back with you.

Julia: Ok.

Officer: Ok, I just need to get a little information from you today. Is the address correct on your driver's license?

Julia: Yes.

Officer: Can I get your phone number please?

Julia: 756-6857.

Officer: And your employer?

Julia: Tacoma Community House.

Officer: I'm issuing you a citation today for 45 in a posted 30, gonna ask you to sign the ticket, right here by the X, that's without admitting guilt.

Officer: Ok, I'm gonna give you a copy.  I'm gonna return your driver's license and registration. I'm gonna give you a copy of the citation. On the backside of the citation, there's some information about your options.

Officer: If you decide you want to contest the ticket and contact the court, there's some information on the back that you can follow that procedure. You have to do that within 15 days. If you fail to do that within 15 days, there could be a warrant issued for your arrest.

Julia: Ok.

Officer: So here's your copy of the ticket.

Officer: Great. Thank you, have a good day.
