Harned Center Fact Sheet

  • Approximately $39 million

Estimated time to completion

  • Geothermal wells: approximately 4 months
  • Building: 18-20 months
  • Total construction time: approximately 2 years

Purpose

  • To provide state of the art housing and equipment for TCC’s Allied Health Programs, including nursing, diagnostic medical sonography, radiologic science, respiratory therapy, and more.

Energy

  • Geothermal heat will be provided by a system of 150 wells, supplemented by electrical heat as needed. (See Geothermal Fact Sheet).

Location and orientation

  • Located at the southwest end of campus, between the Student Center and the Transue Center for Science and Engineering 
  • Two main entrances: one entrance faces Mildred street, one entrance faces the central quad
  • Designed to function as a portal between the community and the college
  • Construction of the Harned Center will largely complete the campus central quad.

Naming

The center is named after H.C. “Joe” Harned, a college benefactor who recently contributed the single largest donation in TCC’s history.
