Description:

The Outreach Student Assistant will assist in the smooth process and maintenance of the office environment, including inquiries, phone calls, web chat, requests for information, event preparation, tours, etc.  The position will also be responsible for supporting programmatic and recruitment activities.  The Outreach Student Assistant reports directly to the Assistant Director of Outreach & Recruitment Services, with daily work oversight by the part-time Outreach Assistant and the Outreach Specialist.

 Essential Functions

Outreach & Recruitment

  • Provide basic information related to educational programs and services.
  • Assess, respond, and relate to the needs and concerns of prospective students and parents.
  • Assist, unconditionally, students from all backgrounds, regardless of ethnicity, socio-economic status, or gender, as well as through respectful interactions with other TCC representatives in compliance with TCC’s Non-Discrimination Policy. 
  • Conduct campus tours to individuals and groups with an emphasis on enrollment steps.

Event Staffing & Support

  • Develop constructive relationships with prospective students and their families as well as community groups, high school counselors, teachers, principals, and other constituents.  
  • Professionally represent TCC to its constituents at TCC outreach events and booths, as needed.
  • Transport materials weighing an average of 25-40 pounds.
  • Pack, stock and re-stock materials before and after outreach events & activities.

Office & Project Support

  • Assist in the prompt data input and update of a comprehensive contact management system.
  • Schedule and document visits to various events, including school sites and community events.
  • Answer questions and inquiries from prospects via phone, email, web chat, and in person.
  • Under the guidance of the Outreach full- and part-time professional staff, initiate, implement and complete projects independently and as part of a team.
