Opportunity Grant

You may qualify for assistance with tuition, books and other college expenses if you are a college student enrolled in an eligible career training program of study and:

  • Washington state resident as determined by Enrollment Services
  • Enrolled in a program of study that the state has approved for Opportunity Grant at TCC that leads to an in demand job (see list below)
  • Registered in at least 3 credits for the quarter applying for assistance
  • If current or previous student, maintaining satisfactory academic progress as determined by state and federal financial aid policy
  • If receiving other college financial aid, have "unmet financial aid need" as determined by your financial aid award notification
  • Have a family net income at or below level shown:

If you have not completed a federal FAFSA application or it has not been received by TCC for the school year that you are applying for assistance, you will need to include income documentation with your Opportunity Grant application.

Next Steps

After you have registered for classes, complete a Workforce Education Application packet available at the Counseling & Advising counter in Bldg. 7. We may be able to assist with state grant funding to pay your first quarter; additional quarters are subject to availability of state funds.

  • Priority is given to first time college students and those that do not have other college financial aid
  • Funding is applied for and awarded one quarter at a time
  • Funding is dependent upon availability of state Opportunity Grant funds
  • If state Opportunity Grant funds are awarded you will receive an electronic award notification from the TCC Financial Aid Office

The state allows a lifetime maximum of 45 credits of Opportunity Grant aid received at any of the community or technical colleges in Washington.
