We have a new array of classes in Health, Music, Language and Culture, and Home and Family Life.

Non-credit classes are flexible and ever-changing to accommodate the cultural, civic, economic and career related educational needs of the community.

By far your best choice for personal enrichment and special interest classes. TCC offers many choices in special interest classes. Take advantage of reasonable prices and convenient times. Enjoy learning from instructors with real life experiences and discover a positive, helpful and supportive environment. Most classes are designed for individuals age 18 years and older unless otherwise specified. Some classes are offered in conjunction with Metro Parks. For a full listing, please visit their website (Metro Parks). Classes for youth and children are provided in a special section. We welcome new ideas that will help us best meet your needs.

There is no registration deadline for Continuing Education classes. Because classes start at different times throughout the quarter, there is always a class coming available. Call 253.566.5020 to check on start dates for classes in which you are interested.

Continuing Education is launching a new program for 50+ lifelong learners called Encore! This program will offer stimulating intellectual learning and opportunities for personal growth through active engagement in the exploration of a wide range of topics from literature, art, music, politics, history and current events.

Photography

The Fantastic Plastic Camera - NEW!

The photo class is different from any you have taken before. Learn to use the fun and fantastic, simple, toy plastic medium format camera - the Holga. Produce amazing and artful images from a toy. Join the plastic camera wave and cure digital burnout! One camera for each student, and your first roll of film is provided in the cost of the course.

Photography Safari

Explore Pierce County and our local areas taking photographs with personal guidance from a professional instructor. We will work on composition, camera operation for proper exposure, white balance, focusing, and using reflectors and flash. Film or digital camera. Bring your camera, your manual and a tripod to class. No experience required.

Drama

How to Get into Commercials - NEW!

Did you ever want to get into commercials? Learn what it takes through this class. This SAG member instructor will lead an interactive course on cold readings, monologues, character development, and voiceovers. You will also learn about portfolio development, resume (credit) building and more. For all ages.

The Business of Acting and Entertainment - NEW!

This course introduces you to the world and craft of the entertainment industry. Learn the ins and outs as you explore how to gain entry into work in the field of entertainment. Topics in the class include audition techniques, actor psychology, character analysis, scene study, voiceovers, plus how to get an agent, union affiliations and more. The instructor has been a member of the Screen Actors Guild since 1979. For all ages.

Language

Spanish 3

Continue with us as you expand, extend and enrich your Spanish language skills and knowledge. Add to your foundational grammar, build vocabulary and increase your spontaneous use of conversational Spanish. Textbook required.

Mandarin 1

Students with little or no background in modern Chinese will practice basic skills in listening, speaking and reading and writing standard Chinese. Learn to read and write so you are well prepared for travel to China.

Home and Family Life

Babysitting Tips and Tools

Contact Us11 to 16 year olds will have the opportunity to learn the basics of how to care for and entertain children in a babysitting situation. Topics include child development, home and child safety, what to do in an emergency, how to get babysitting jobs, and great ideas to keep the children busy with art and craft projects that are age appropriate. Entertainment includes dramatic play and silly songs. The students will learn how to use available resources to enhance their babysitting careers. Certificates awarded upon completion of the class.
