Educational Philosophy

The role of the instructor is to guide and mentor students. Students learn best by doing and explaining to others (either verbally or in writing). Secondary to these methods are reading and listening.

I employ guided inquiry in many of my lectures and labs. In this method, students work in teams to solve a problem through discussions and activities. The instructor acts as a guide, choosing the activities and ensuring that students master the necessary material by guiding the discussions and activities.
