AAS Degree - Advanced Standing for LPN Plan

Licensed Practical Nurses desiring to become Registered Nurses may apply for advanced standing in the program two times per year, winter and summer quarters. See chart below.

This program is approved by the Washington State Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission and is accredited by the Accreditation Committee for Education in Nursing (ACEN) formerly the NLNAC.

ANNOUNCEMENT:

Next application period
will be Sept 1- Oct 1 for winter quarter admission. Part-time level 3 must pass OB section of ATI exam. Full-time level 4 applicants must pass OB and PEDS of ATI exam.

Updates to LPN ATI Mobility Exam:
1. ATI RN Maternal Newborn Nursing exam results will expire after 5 years.
2. ATI RN Nursing Care of Children exam results will expire after 5 years.
3. Only allow 2 attempts of each exam within a three year time frame.

All communications is through TCC email only.

Admissions Process/Criteria

  1. Review the LPN to RN Program Packet
  2. Apply to be a TCC student and send official transcripts.
  3. Complete core prerequisite courses
    Have a current unencumbured LPN License in the State of Washington. This license can be accessed at the LPN license website.
  4. Complete the ATI testing to assess your knowledge of obstetrics and/or pediatrics. 60% or higher required on OB to enter level 3 and 60% or higher on OB and PEDS to enter level 4.
  5. Submit nursing program application online by logging into your TCC student portal - more instruction in packet.

Applicants interested in the Nursing Program are encouraged to attend an information session. Applicants will be given information on the nursing profession and application procedures. It will end with a question and answer session. No registration is required to attend the information session.
