Types of Classes

There are several types of eLearning classes offered at TCC.

Each different mode has its own set of course expectations.

To search for eLearning classes, go to the Credit Class Schedule and choose the instructional modality you want (i.e. Full Online, Hybrid, Web Enhanced, etc.).  You can also:

Week Zero: TCC eLearning has implemented a policy called "Week Zero" that requires TCC Full Online and Hybrid Online classes to be open one week before instruction begins. Tutorials for students to work through before the quarter starts will be available on this page.

eLearning Account Fees

  • All Canvas courses have fees charged to them.
  • Washington Online Courses (WAOL) – non-refundable $8 per credit fee
  • TCC Courses:
Full Online and Hybrid – $7 per credit fee
Web Enhanced – $5 per credit fee

Note: TCC eLearning Course fees have a cap of $60 per quarter. Additional course fees may apply.

Web Enhanced

Web enhanced courses have a traditional classroom (on campus) structure with an added web component to enhance the students learning experience.

Hybrid Online

Hybrid online courses combine online learning with traditional classroom (on campus) instruction.

  • TCC Hybrid Online Course - Hybrid course taught by TCC Faculty using Canvas. Canvas classrooms classes will be open one week before instruction begins. A Week Zero button will be in the classroom that houses tutorials for students to work through before the quarter starts.

Full Online

Full Online classes are held 100% online using course management software called Canvas. At TCC we have two types of Full Online classes:

  • TCC Full Online Course - Online course taught by TCC Faculty. Canvas classrooms classes will be open one week before instruction begins. A Week Zero button will be in the classroom that houses tutorials for students to work through before the quarter starts.
  • Washington Online Course (WAOL Online Course) - Washington Online (WAOL Canvas) is a consortium of the Washington state community and technical colleges. Students enrolling in online courses that are sponsored by WAOL Canvas will receive credit on their TCC transcript just as they would for other credit courses taken at the college. Note: Concurrent enrollment (unless TCC is parent school) and space available waivers are not available for Washington Online classes because of enrollment fees. For more information about WAOL courses and how to buy books go to http://www.waol.org/home/default.asp
