Medical Insurance

The US government requires that all international students studying in the US have adequate medical insurance coverage. TCC offers an insurance package specially designed for our international students.

Medical Insurance Policy

All international students at Tacoma Community College (TCC) must have medical insurance through Firebird International Insurance Group (FIIG).

While many other countries bear the expense of health care for their residents, individuals in the United States are responsible for these expenses themselves. A single day of hospitalization can cost thousands of dollars. A good insurance policy gives you access to excellent medical facilities and provides protection against the enormous costs of health care.

Exceptions to the Rule

  • If you have a pre-existing medical condition from your home country and need a specific coverage through a different insurance carrier, then you must provide documentation of your medical condition and contact us to apply for an insurance waiver.

Medical Insurance Rates:

Fall Quarter 2013 - Summer Quarter 2014

  • Student coverage: $288.35 per quarter
  • Spousal coverage: $288.35 per quarter
  • Each dependent child: $288.35 per quarter

A full explanation of the TCC/Firebird plan is available at www.fiig-insurance.com.

Spouse and Children If you would like to buy insurance for your spouse or children, you must inform Annemarie Martin before tuition is due.
