How do I apply?

STEP 1: Sign up for and attend an information session

Students MUST bring:

  • Transcripts (can be unofficial)
  • HSPE Scores
  • Immunization Records
  • Some form of Identification

Interested students who do not bring required materials will be asked to attend the next Info Session.

STEP 2: Take the ACCUPLACER assessment test

Go to the Fresh Start office in Bldg. 8, Room 9. A Fresh Start representative will provide a fee waiver to take the Accuplacer assessment test.

  • The 1.5-2 hour test will include basic English and math questions, and will determine which classes you will take first. Students need to place at least at the English 85 for admittance into the program.
  • You do not need an appointment to take the TCC assessment test. Call 253.566.5158 to confirm dates and times for testing. You will need your photo ID to confirm your identity.

STEP 3: Complete Steps to Enrollment

At the information session, our advisors will provide directions to assist you in completing your enrollment. You will have 1 week to submit your online application to the Fresh Start program.

To begin your online application select your student status below. Be sure to use a valid email address. This will allow you to "save work in progress."

Select "New Student" if you have never at any time been enrolled in Fresh Start.

Select "Returning" if you havebeen enrolled in Fresh Start and taken time off.

Select "Second Opportunity" if you did not successfully pass your first quarter and would like to reapply.

All attachments, signatures and required fields must be completed for your application to be reviewed for acceptance. If you need access to a scanner, one has been provided for student use in the Fresh Start office. Go to room 9 in Building 8.

STEP 4: Schedule an appointment with a Retention Specialist

Students should make an appointment to meet with their advisor as soon as they submit their online application for enrollment. Your intake interview will last about 30 minutes. After the interview, students will receive a letter in the mail indicating whether they have been accepted into the program.

STEP 5: Attend the Fresh Start Orientation

This mandatory orientation takes place the week before classes start. You will be expected to attend and notified through your letter of acceptance of the time, date, and location.
