eHIM Certificate Program

(43 credits)

In collaboration with the Networking & Convergence Technologies program, the Health Information Management (HIM) program is pleased to offer a 43-credit certificate in eHIM (Electronic Health Information Management).

The U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that career opportunities for HIM professionals will grow much faster than average. The health information management (HIM) field employs accredited professionals who are responsible for the organization and safe-keeping of patient health information. Until recently HIM professionals were primarily concerned with paper documents. Increasingly such information is generated, stored, and accessed electronically. TCC recognizes the importance of training our HIM students and current HIM professionals in Information Technology (IT).

This certificate will complement the Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) credential, as well as graduates of the networking and convergence technologies degree, by providing IT and HIM skills which will allow graduates to become vital parts of any health information management IT team working to develop and/or manage health information electronically. This certificate is also offered as a stand-alone certificate, which will provide candidates with foundational knowledge that will allow them to enter the health care IT field.
