Student Government

photo of senate meetingEach class day, hundreds of students bring their varied backgrounds and values to TCC because they're all reaching for something beyond themselves. When you join the student body at TCC, you become part of an active, ambitious community.

And every community needs leaders.

"We the Associated Student Body of TCC ..."

Members of ASTCC are responsible for:

  • Developing the Service and Activities Fee Budget
  • Allocating funds to clubs and organizations
  • Representing student concerns on various college committees.

The best student government is one that:

Guarantees student participation which is
direct, open, and responsive to changing
student needs;

Is integral to and not
isolated from
other decision-making
and governing processes of the college; and

Provides development of each student participant.

S & A Fee Budget End of the Year Report

Services and Activity Fee

The Services & Activity Fee is distributed by the Associated Student Government to fund student focused support systems within the college.

These fees are assessed through quarterly tuition. Annually, the ASTCC Executive Board calls for budget requests. The ASTCC Budget Committee then works to disseminate funds throughout the college. These funds provide: student jobs, campus activities, support of student-focused services, programs, and support of the student center.

For questions about the S/A fee and the use of these funds, contact Student Life by calling 253.566.5118.

In accordance with RCW 28B.15.045 -- Intent -- 2012 c 104: "The legislature recognizes that students play an important role in recommending how services and activities fees should be expended, as the majority of members of the services and activities fees committee at each institution of higher education. It is the intent of the legislature to increase transparency, so that expenditures of revenue from services and activities fees are clearly visible and accessible to the students who pay those fees." [2012 c 104 § 1.]
