Titans win in NWAACC playoff match vs. Whatcom

The TCC men's soccer team advances to the elite eight for the first time in 11 years, with a win over Whatcom. Just getting into the playoffs was not what was on the mind of the Titans Wednesday in Bellingham. The Titans were looking to advance forward in the tournament. The Titans have played a very tough schedule thus far and they knew their record wasn't the best, but they battled and were a very hungry team looking to prove people wrong. "The good thing about the playoffs is that once you get in every team has a shot and everyone's record is back to 0-0", said Titans assistant coach Pierre Vargas before the match. The Titans played with that playoff urgency right from the start of the match. In the 13th minute Luke Logan received a ball out wide about 45 yards from goal, took one touch and served a great cross in the box that Chris Peterson finished for his 6th goal of the season. That is all the offense the Titans would need as their defense became very stingy on the night. Whatcom put a lot of pressure on the Titans in the 2nd half, but could not break through with the equalizing goal. Thanks in big part to a solid backline lead by Sophomore Dixon Hammer and Freshmen goalkeeper Jessie Garcia, who came up with a few big saves to preserve the shutout. Next up for the Titans is a rematch with East division number one seed Walla Walla, with a trip to the final four on the line.
