PORTLAND, Ore. (Jan. 27) -- Central Washington University senior Mark McLaughlin (Inglemoor HS/Tacoma CC) earned Great Northwest Athletic Conference Player of the Week for his contributions to the men's basketball team last week.
McLaughlin had arguably the greatest individual week in GNAC men's basketball history. He totaled 83 points and became the first player in CWU history and the second player in GNAC history to score 40 or more points in back-to-back games.
He scored a CWU NCAA DII record 43 points in a tough 99-94 loss to Western Washington, and followed it up with a 40-point performance against Simon Fraser two days later.
In those two games combined he shot 68.2 percent from the field, making 28 of his 41 attempts. He is averaging 28.3 points per game which is tops in the nation.

McLaughlin also broke another CWU record as he made 42 consecutive free throws -- spanning six games -- before missing an attempt late in the loss to Western Washington Thursday evening.

This marks the third time that McLaughlin has earned GNAC player of the week honors and his second selection in the past three weeks.
