Brown to Take Over Titan Basketball Program
Tacoma, WA - Jesse Brown has been named Interim Men's Basketball Coach for the Tacoma Community College basketball program. Jesse has served the past three years as an assistant for the Titans, including the role of head assistant for the 2012-13 season. "I am excited to work with our student-athletes on and off the floor," said Brown. "The chance to be the coach of the Tacoma is a tremendous opportunity."
Prior to his role as an assistant at TCC, Brown was an assistant with the women's program at the University of Alaska-Anchorage (UAA) in 2009-10. During that season Jesse helped the UAA woman finish 24-5 and a at large birth to the NCAA Div. II national tournament. His duties at UAA included recruiting, scouting, and individual guard work.
Jesse began his collegiate coaching career during the 2008-2009 season as an assistant at TCC. His first coaching stint was in the high school ranks in Anchorage, Alaska. At Service High School, he coached two years as the Head Freshman Coach and Varsity Assistant Coach (2005-2007).
Jesse Brown's collegiate playing career began at Tacoma Community College (TCC). After graduating from Enumclaw High School in 1999, Jesse played two seasons (1999-2001) for the Titans. In his two years at TCC the Titans record was 58-9, and included back to back West Region Titles, and a 4th place finish at the NWAACC tournament as a freshman, and 2nd place finish as a sophomore.
From his efforts on the court Jesse earned himself a college scholarship at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) who plays in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. For the Alaska Anchorage Seawolves, Jesse received awards such as back to back Coaches Awards ('02-'03 & '03-'04), Defensive Player of the Year honors (2002-2003), as well as back to back Jim Hajdukovich "Ironman" Award ('02-'03 & '03-'04).
Jesse earned his bachelor's degree in History from UAA ('09) and his associates degree from TCC ('01).
