Central Washington University

A 2001 graduate of Clover Park High School, James attended Tacoma Community College and was a member of Regional Championship Teams in 2003 for Soccer and Basketball. Concluding her career at TCC James transferred to Central Washington University where she received an athletic and academic scholarship to play Fast-pitch after a knee injury which prevented her from playing basketball. While attending Central she was a member of the school’s Academic All-Star Team for three consecutive years. Despite only playing for three years James’ name was vivid throughout the record books for both single season and career statistics.

In the fall if 2006 after completing her degrees in Administrative Management/Informational Technology and Communications James pursued her coaching career and returned to her high school alma-mater and was named the Head Coach at the age of 22. The CPHS Warriors narrowly missed post season play by one point. She was joined by current Assistant Coach Lindsay DeVries. Staying close to her roots, James returned to TCC where she began her coaching career with the 2007-2008 season. She is now in the process of building her 2008-2009 roster.

Coach DeVries is in her first year at TCC.  She is a 1999 graduate of North High School in North St. Paul, MN.  From there she went to Moorhead State and played one year of basketball, after earning her AA degree, she received her BA and Teaching degree in Family and Consumer Science at North Dakota State University in 2003.  She then moved to St. Paul, MN where she taught FACS and served as the Asst. Varsity coach at Arlington High School for 1 year. 

In 2004, she moved to Arcata, CA where she became a 2 year Graduate Asst. for the Women’s Basketball team at Humboldt State University.  After moving to Tacoma, she assisted head Coach Jenee James at Clover Park High School.

Currently she lives in Tacoma, and works for the city of Milton as a parks and facilities worker.
