TCC Men's soccer team had a crucial win on Saturday Oct. 26th vs. Highline CC. The Titans were in a must win situation as they were battling for the last playoff spot in the west. The Titans played with urgency right from the start of the game as they new they had to play hard in order to stay ahead of Bellevue in the playoff race. The Titans withheld a lot of pressure from Highline in the first 20 minutes of the game. In the 37th minute the Titans got on the board first, with a free kick from 30 yards out. Chris Peterson struck the free kick on frame and the Highline keeper made a diving save that was followed up and buried in the back of the net by Donald Rose. The Titans then gathered some momentum and scored twice more before the half. Donald Rose and Pedro Sagustume added the goals in the first half. The Titans lead 3-0 at halftime. In the 2nd half TCC came out and played aggressive as they did in the 1st half, creating chances and taking it to Highline. The Titans got their fourth goal in the 84th minute when Pedro Sagustume beat two Highline defenders and played a ball across to Joe Snow who tallied his 5th goal of the season. Highline would score a late goal to make the final score 4-1. "This is one of the biggest wins for our program since I have been here, especially with all that was on line for us. We came out and battled for each other for 90 minutes and it showed. This should give us plenty of momentum and confidence as we get closer to the playoffs ," said coach Gjertsen.
The Titans are ranked 8th in the latest NWAACC poll released October 30th and the west region is the only region with 3 teams in the top 8 (Peninsula #1, Highline #5, and Tacoma #8)
