ELLENSBURG (May 4) -- The Central Washington University men's basketball team has announced the signing of Tacoma Community College transfer Nate Walker to its 2012-13 roster, joining TCC teammate Dominique Williams, who signed with the Wildcats last week.

"Nate is a very versatile and competitive winner who has the ability to defend and rebound effectively for us while playing multiple positions," said CWU head coach Greg Sparling. "He is also extremely efficient offensively, having shot 60 percent from the field last season."

Walker is a 6-foot-5 forward who prepped at Foss High School in Tacoma prior to TCC. In two seasons with the Titans, he averaged 15 points per game and over eight rebounds while shooting 60 percent from the field as a sophomore. He transfers to CWU as a junior with two years of eligibility remaing.

Walker had 10 double-doubles this past season for TCC, highlighted by a 31-point, 10-rebound performance against Pierce College when he made 12 of 15 shot attempts. He also scored 23 points and grabbed 12 rebounds on 83 percent shooting in the Titans' victory over Chemeketa Community College for the 2012 Northwest Athletic Association of Community Coilleges (NWAACC) championship game in March.

"Nate is a tough kid and brings a great deal of toughness to Central," said former CWU assistant and current TCC head coach Carl Howell. "He is a great rebounder on both ends and can score effectively inside 17 feet."

With the signing of Walker, the projected 2012-13 roster currently features seven players who played at TCC prior to joining Central Washington University.
