TCC Athletics Hosts Second Annual Hall of Fame Dinner & Auction

Posted: 10/27/2008 9:34:00 AM

At this year's Hall of Fame event the athletics department will recognize individuals and teams from the early to mid eighties, including two athletes who were among the first women to win individual and team championships at TCC. While men's athletics started in 1966, women's athletics was not launched until 1979. "These are two of the pioneers in women's athletics at the college," said Athletic Director Carl Howell.

Individual honorees include John Carr, Holly Hovey, Jeff Moser, Bill Pethick, Elizabeth Roffler (Harris), and Sam Tuttle. John Carr was the MVP for 1982 NWAACC men's basketball. Holley Hovey was MVP for 1986 NWAACC women's basketball. Jeff Moser was a two time all-region performer while playing on the 1985 and 86 men's soccer teams, and he was also MVP of the NWAACC all-star game in 1986. Bill Pethick was a two time all-league performer and played men's soccer on the 1984 and 85 teams. Elizabeth Roffler (Harris) was the NWAACC high jump champion in 1985 and 1986, and was also member of the 1986 women's basketball team. Sam Tuttle was MVP of NWAACC men's basketball for 1983. Team honorees include 1982 men's basketball, 1983 men's basketball, and 1984 men's soccer.

"Not only is this a great chance to honor former TCC athletes and coaches, but it is also a great opportunity to host an annual get-together of former and current Titans," said Howell.

The Hall of Fame event schedule includes: 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. cocktail hour; 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. silent auction; and 7 p.m. dinner (Hall of Fame induction immediately following). The keynote speaker will be Frank Bosone, Executive Director of the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges from 1972-1992.
