TCC Titan pitcher’s Matt Bell and Garrett Picha have signed National Letters of Intent during the early signing period.

They will be attending the University of South Alabama for the 2013 season. The Jaguars compete in the Sun Belt Conference, rated the #5 Conference in Division 1 last season, and whose alumni include Major Leagues Juan Pierre, Luis Gonzalez, John Lieber, and Marlon Anderson. The University of South Alabama’s new Head Coach Mark Calvi joins the Jaguars after winning the 2010 College World Series with the University of South Carolina. Pitching Coach Bob Keller also has connections to TCC, coaching former Titan standout Jordan Staples last year at Dallas Baptist University, while leading DBU to a Super Regional Berth.

Bell, a returning starter, earned 2nd Team All-Conference recognition last year as a Freshman. He posted a 6-2 record with a 2.70 ERA, 53 strikeouts, 18 walks, 32 hits in 49 Innings. Picha redshirted last due to a knee injury. Both will have a huge impact for the Titans pitching staff this year.

“We are very excited for Matt and Garrett,” states Titan Head Coach Ryan Mummert. “The opportunity to join a Division 1 program with the tradition of South Alabama as well as a chance to compete for a Regional Championship is the goal of every College baseball player. Matt and Garrett’s continued work ethic and determination have brought them great reward. We couldn’t be happier for them and their families”
