Tacoma, WA - TCC Baseball split their final series of the year against Lower Columbia College. The Titans lost both games at LC, 4-3 and 2-1, and swept at home, 7-5 and 5-4.

Game 1 brought to the Stage each team's top pitchers, in Jeff Ames and Titans Andrew Olson. While Ames cruised out of the gate, Olson struggled. Olson gave up 3 runs on 4 hits in the 1st inning. But he would settle down after that. Olson would pitch to the 8th allowing only 1 more run and striking out 6 Red Devils. The offense would fight back as well in the 5th. The Titans would load the bases and after a David Olson sac-fly and a Stephan Adams 2 RBI Double, TCC cut the lead to 4-3. But that was as close as the Titans would get. Markus Hinkle led the offense with 2 hits and 7 of the 9 starters contributed hits also.

Following a tough loss in Game 1, the Titans started slow in Game 2 again. Starter Dylan Baker got off to a rough start walking the 1st 2 batters of the game. But after a Double Play and a Strikeout, Baker would get out of the 1st inning unscathed. The game would remain scoreless until bottom of the 6th, where 2 TCC errors would allow LC to score 2 runs and go up 2-0 in the last inning. The Titans would give it one last chance and load the bases with 1 out. A sac-fly by Hinkle would get the Titans on the board and with the tying run in scoring position, LC struckout pinch hitter Andrew Thaut to end the game at 2-1. Baker had a solid outing going 6 innings, 4 hits, 2 Un-Earned and 6 Ks.

After a few Days of moving the games back due to weather, Day 2 at TCC turned out to be a good one for the Titans. After getting down 1-0 in the 1st Inning, the Titan offense came alive. TCC would put up 5 runs in the next 3 innings to take a 5-1 lead, led by 2 big hits by David Olson. David Lidyard would get the win and David Olson would close out the 9th to get the save. Jeff Larabee was also outstanding in relief giving up no runs in 3 innings of work. The offense was led by Olson, Rogers, Somers and Hinkle, who all had 2 hits apiece.

The last game of the series was not much different than the others. Though this time TCC jumped out to a lead and made the Red Devils play catch up. Beau Rogers led off the game with a Double, and after back to back walks, Brandon Johnson and JJ Nazzaro had RBI singles for a 3-0 Titan lead. Rogers would also score in the 2nd on a groundout by David Olson. But LC would come back and tie it at 4 in the 7th. So TCC would have 1 more shot before extra innings. With the bases loaded and 1 out, Johnson singled in Rogers for his 3rd run of the game and the winning run. Rogers, Johnson, and Nazzaro led the Titans with 2 hits each.

TCC played the day without Head Coach Ryan Mummert who had a medical emergency and was unable to attend.

The Titans now travel back to Longview to take on Lower Columbia in the Best Out of 3 West Division Playoff and battle for the 2nd seed to the NWAACC Tournament. All games are at Lower Columbia with a DH Saturday and if neccassary Game 3 on Sunday. Start times for both days are 1pm.
