Tacoma, WA - The TCC Titans secured the West Division #2 seed into the NWAACC Tournament on Saturday by sweeping Green River 3-2 and 3-1. Tacoma (24-15) will face South Division Champion Chemeketa (32-10) in the opening-round game at 9:35 AM on Thursday at Lower Columbia College.

Colton Brown took the mound in game 1 and gave the Titans 5 strong innings before leaving with a back strain. He allowed 2 runs on 4 hits. Freshman reliever Terik Gofinch came on in relief and went three scoreless innings to pick up his first collegiate victory. All West Division closer Sean Santschi came on in the ninth to lock it down and earn his 12th save of the year. David Olson gave the Titans the jolt they needed offensively by blasting a 2-run bomb in the bottom of the first inning to put TCC up 2-1.

Freshman left-hander Andrew Olson took the ball in game 2 and was nearly perfect. He went 8 innings, allowing just 1 run on 3 hits, while striking out 8. He yielded in the 9th to Santschi once again who made it overly dramatic by loading the bases before striking out the final Gator hitter on a knee-buckling curveball in the dirt. Once again, a home run was the catalyst for the Titan offense, as sophomore third baseman Andy Scott ran a 2-strike offering out over the left-field fence to give Tacoma a 2-1 lead they would never relinquish.

This is the 5th straight playoff appearance for the Titans under Head Coach Donegal Fergus, and the 2nd NWAACC Tournament appearance. The 8-team tournament begins Thursday on the campus of Lower Columbia College. You can follow all the action at nwaacc.org, or on kltv.com for the internet broadcast.
