Tacoma, WA - TCC opened the 2010 conference slate with a series win versus their crosstown rivals, Pierce College. Pierce took the first game of the three game series 8-6, but Tacoma rallied to take the next two games, 11-2 and 7-4, respectively.

Despite jumping out to a 3-0 lead early in game 1 on Saturday, the Titans let the lead slip away and dropped the opening contest. Poor defense and walks contributed mightily to the defeat. David Olson took the hard luck loss, giving up 5 unearned runs in the 8th inning. Brandon Johnson led the way offensively with three singles.

Game two went much more to the preferred script, as the Titans pounded the Raiders 11-2, behind 2 doubles and 3 runs scored by Riley Rosvold. Jordan Staples gets the win, pitching 5 shutout innings on the mound.

The third and decisive game on Sunday was a close affair throughout, as the Raiders took a 2-0 lead in the 3rd inning. TCC came right back though, with Johnson launching a 2-out 3-run homerun to deep left field to grab the lead right back. Tacoma would not relinquish that lead, eventually prevailing 7-4. Starting pitcher David Lidyard went 4 innings, allowing 3 earned runs. Fellow freshman Andrew Olson took over in the 5th, working out of a big jam without allowing a run, earning the victory in the process. Pierce would not get another hit for the rest of the game. Terik Gofinch and David Olson worked three hitless and scoreless innings, setting up closer Sean Santschi for the ninth. Santschi struck out 2 of the 3 batters he faced to earn his 4th save of the season.

The Titans go to 7-6 on the year, 2-1 in conference play. They next face #1 ranked Lower Columbia on Wednesday night in Longview, WA.
