Tacoma, WA - TCC Baseball took on Lower Columbia over the weekend in the West Region Playoff Series, with a birth as the #2 seed to the NWAACC championships on the line.

Game one saw the Titan bats rack up 12 hits on LCC starter Tanner Olson, as 5 Titan hitters collected 2 hits apiece. TCC held a 6-2 lead going into the 9th, but LCC would make a late run and cut the lead to 6-4. With the tying run at the plate, the Red Devil hitter would send a deep drive to centerfield, eventually ran down at the wall by JJ Pino to secure the 6-4 win. Starter Justin Vernia held LCC in check most of the game and improved his NWAACC best record to 10-0. Vernia scattered 8 hits and only 2 runs over 8 innings, while striking out 7 with 0 walks.

Game two would be more of a pitcher's duel as TCC's Joey Gamache and LCC's Hunter Wells would limit the opponent's offenses. With score tied at 2, Wells would give way to the bullpen. The Titan hitters would take advantage as a JJ Pino RBI single, Derik Bontempo 2-Run Homerun, and Josh Latta 2-RBI Double would blow open the game and give TCC an 8-2 lead heading into the 9th. Joey Gamache would go 1-2-3 in the 9th for the complete game win and then watched his teammates mob him after the 3rd out was made.

"We had some adversity the last 2 weeks with some injuries, weather, and a few more losses than we have been used to this year, but our guys regrouped and we had some other guys step up," said head coach Ryan Mummert. "As much as we wanted to win the West and were only 2 outs away from that goal last week, I think that helped us refocus and made us realize we have to move on from last weekend or this weekend could be our last. I give our guys a ton of credit. It's a new season now."

With the win TCC advances to the NWAACC Tournament on Thursday in Longview, WA. The Titans will match up against Treasure Valley in round 1 with a game time set for 12:35pm. GO TITANS!
