August 10, 2005 - Tacoma, WA - On Wednesday, August 10, Tacoma Community College hired Donegal Fergus to be its new Head Baseball Coach. Fergus was previously the Assistant Head Coach at Lower Columbia College for 5 seasons. Fergus brings both head coaching experience and recruiting success to TCC, where he has hit the ground running in an effort to bring the Titans back to the top of the NWAACC heap. Fergus will also serve as an Academic Advisor for the college. Field improvement projects are already underway, as the nenew warning track, infield mix, and fencing are being installed. A brand new 9-Inning scoreboard is scheduled for installation this winter, as well upgrades to the seating. Hopes and expectations are high for the new staff. "We have a plan to make TCC one of the elite programs in the NWAACC. It won't happen overnight, but with hard work, good recruiting, and renewed community support, we will make it happen," says Fergus. Fergus worked quickly to hire an elite staff, bringing two former Titans on board - Brian Viafore ('00) and Garth Glasman ('00). Viafore will handle the infielders and hitters, while Glasman will coordinate the outfielders and baserunning. The fourth member of the new Titan staff is Ron Rakowski. Ron joins us from Willamette University, where he was the Pitching Coach for two seasons.
