September 1, 2005 - Tacoma, WA - New Titan skipper Donegal Fergus completed his inaugural coaching staff this week with the hiring of Ron Rakowski, Brian Viafore, and Garth Glasman. "All three are great people first and foremost, but also bring an enthusiasm and passion for the game that we need at this point. Being a new staff and having much work to do, I wanted to find some energetic young coaches who were willing to work hard to build this program up." says Fergus. Rakowski joins the Titans from Willamette University, where he was the Pitching Coach and Recruiting Coordinator the past two seasons. He has previously had coaching stops at Clovis High School, DeAnza Junior College, and San Francisco State University. Fergus on Rakowski, "Ron is an veteran coach with experience at several levels of baseball, along with a track record of success. He comes to us highly recommended by some coaches that I highly respect and I am extremely excited to have him on my staff. He will handle our pitchers and coordinate our recruiting efforts. I could not have asked for a better hire." Viafore returns to his alma mater to take on the role of Infield Instructor and Strength and Conditioning Coach. After a decorated record-setting playing career at TCC and Central Washington, Viafore spent one season in professional baseball before embarking on a career in education and coaching. He then joined the staff at Bellarmine Prep High School. Fergus on Viafore, "Brian was the first coach I hired after coming to TCC, and he was recommended to me by numerous sources. He is a passionate young coach who really knows the game and has some very strong philosophies about how it should be played. He is certainly an up and coming coach in this business." Glasman is another former Titan who has been coaching in the high school ranks the past few years. He was an assistant at Lakes High School, where he handled a number of different responsibilities, as well as coaching in their summer ball program. At TCC, he will coach outfield play, as well as act as Camp Director for Titan Baseball Camps. Fergus on Glasman, "You could not ask for a more enthusiastic coach than Garth. He is so eager to learn the college game and bring his excitement to the kids. He is going to be a tremendous recruiter and terrific camp director. Our players love playing for him and I am delighted to have him aboard." The new staff is already fully on board and working hard to bring a baseball championship to Tacoma.
