November 14, 2005 - Tacoma, WA - Titan sophomore shortstop Zack Parnell signed a National Letter of Intent with Hawaii Pacific University this past week. The signing was part of the NCAA's early signing period, which ran from Nov. 9 to Nov. 16. Parnell, originally from Ridgefield, WA was a 2nd Team All Western Division selection last season for the Titans, and is expected to again produce an all-league season. As a freshman, Parnell hit .291 with 10 RBI and 7 stolen bases. HPU Head Coach Garret Yukumoto on Parnell, " I am very excited to have Zack join the HPU family. He will be a big asset for our University as well as our baseball program. He brings hardwork, character, preservance, and dedication to our program." Coach Fergus has high praise for the youngster as well. "Zach is a terrific defensive shortstop, with good range and an accurate arm. Offensively, I think he's going to become a fine contact hitter as he continues to improve his strength. I have no doubt that he will make a huge impact for Coach Yukumoto and the Sea Warriors. I was fortunate to come aboard this program and have such great leaders like Zack. He is a terrific young man and I wish him the best of luck in Hawaii." Parnell will enroll at HPU in the fall of 2006.
